Differentials
Axles and Differentials are designed in such a way that the gearing allows power to be transferred from the engine and driveline to the wheels. The engine and transmission spin the driveshaft, which is coupled to a pinion gear housed within the axle. The pinion in turn engages and turns a larger gear known as a ring gear, which causes corresponding movement in the wheels.
Types of Differentials
- open
- locking
- limited-slip
- torque-vectoring
Functions of Differentials
- Used for speed Reduction
- Turns the power flow by 90 degrees.
